Worn as an undershirt, nightgown, weekend wear or workout gear — there's no more versatile item in our closets than a T-shirt. It's the one article of clothing that always gives us our money's worth. Especially when that T-shirt is free.

All summer long there will be outdoor festivals and special events at which commemorative T-shirts are sold. But when the event is over, there are often boxes of leftover T-shirts.

Since it is unlikely that these will be bought once the celebration is over, many officials will give these away or let you have them for almost nothing.
