WSJE: WEEKEND: Personal Finance & Spending: Net Profit

By EDWARD TAYLOR

Small Caps

This site looks impressive with a very clearly displayed "Small Cap Analyst" contents page. Click on the "Stock of the Month" link and investors can receive an explanation of around 1,500 words on why a particular stock has been chosen as the favorite stock of the month. The Small Cap Analyst will not only advise when to buy but also when to sell a stock. The site owners promise they watch the stocks daily, and keep abreast of company news and SEC filings.

For more in-depth analysis on a particular stock the "Today's News" link takes you straight to the site of Briefing.com or the latest business headlines from isyndicate.com. The site does, however, rely heavily on Briefing .com (for seven of the links on "Todays News") - where more serious research is only given to subscribers. If you are not in it for minute-to-minute speculation then you can always browse articles on the personal-finance link. Here you can find another collection of links to other Web sites.

A link to CBS marketwatch offers four new personal-finance stories as well as links to MyPrimeTime.com. Unfortunately, the link marked smallcapcenter.com only had stories 20 days out of date. The best link on the site may be one to Zacks Research. Simply enter a stock symbol (of a U.S.-listed company) and up comes a brief summary of what the company does alongside a spread of opinions from various analysts as to whether they recommend it. Income statements, balance sheets as well as market commentary and charts can be accessed from here.
