By teaching your children goal-setting skills, you'll enhance their chance for success in school and beyond.
The first step is to set a good example. Set goals as a family and share in the rewards. Make sure the goals are challenging but still within each family member's reach.
These six questions will help you determine if your family goals are achievable.
Note: This quiz is intended as a tool for self-exploration but is not a scientifically validated test. Number of Questions: 6 Time Required: 2 minutes
1. Can your family clearly picture exactly what it wants to accomplish?
The more specific the better. For example, don't just discuss a vacation to Hawaii; discuss a two-week camping trip on Oahu's North Shore.	Yes	No
2. Has your family considered each step necessary to success?
Reading a book a month, for instance, requires a weekly time commitment. Is everyone free on the same nights? Will everyone help get dinner ready faster in order for extra reading time afterward?	Yes	No
3. Does it make sense for your family to do this?
Do you really want to go car camping together if the siblings are always in conflict? Is there another way to spend time together without increasing everyone's stress level?	Yes	No
